Palo Alto

Palo Alto gardens are older than most of what we work on, and that changes the priority. The job is usually to protect what is already there rather than to start over: mature trees that need structural pruning instead of a haircut, established beds that need editing rather than clearing, irrigation that needs to reach root zones nobody mapped thirty years ago.

Our tree work here is deliberate. Deadwood out, crossing limbs cleared, canopy thinned and lifted at proper cuts at the branch collar. We do not top trees, and we will say so plainly if someone asks us to.

When we do add hardscape in Palo Alto it tends to be stone rather than standard paver: flagstone walkways, low seat walls, steps that sit naturally into an existing grade. Crews protect root zones and existing planting through the whole build.
